Contact: Alec Lloyd Evart Receives Police Vehicle from USDA Rural Development EAST LANSING, June 13, 2012 – U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development today commemorated an $11,000 grant to the City of Evart in Osceola County for a police vehicle. “USDA Rural Development is pleased to work with Evart to improve public safety for area residents,” said State Director for Michigan James J. Turner. Rural Development funds will be used to purchase a 4x4 Chevrolet Tahoe modified for K-9 use, replacing an older vehicle. The project serves 1,738 rural residents. USDA Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009. USDA, through its Rural Development mission area, administers and manages housing, business and community infrastructure and facility programs through a national network of state and local offices. These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America. Rural Development has an existing portfolio of more than $165 billion in loans and loan guarantees.
