Contact: Alec Lloyd USDA Announces Gladwin Police Building Grand Opening EAST LANSING, Aug. 23, 2012 – U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner today announced a ceremony to commemorate opening of Gladwin’s renovated police department building on Thursday, Aug. 30th, at 2 p.m. at 109 S. Park Drive, in Gladwin. The agency provided a $142,000 loan and $78,000 grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and an additional $84,000 loan and $10,000 grant through regular Community Facilities funding to pay for the project. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. USDA Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009. USDA, through its Rural Development mission area, administers and manages housing, business and community infrastructure programs through a national network of state and local offices. These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America. Rural Development has an existing portfolio of more than $172 billion in loans and loan guarantees.
