ISHPEMING RECEIVES GRANT FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE

LANSING, Dec. 15 2006 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett on Thursday presented a ceremonial check for $25,000 to the City of Ishpeming.  The grant will help purchase a four-wheel-drive police vehicle.

“USDA Rural Development is proud to help Ishpeming improve public safety,” said DeRossett.  “I am pleased we can help rural residents enhance their quality of life through better police protection.”

The event is part of a series of ceremonies commemorating more than $2 million in grants and loans for communities across the Upper Peninsula.

USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
