USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $46,000 FOR NORTHERN MICHIGAN COMMUNITIES

 EAST LANSING, Jan. 4, 2010 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan James Turner today announced a series of ceremonies commemorating $46,000 in grants for communities across the Northern Michigan. 

The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. 

The list below indicates the date, time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation. 

Date: Wednesday, Jan. 6th                   Time:  11 a.m.
Location: Evart City Hall Depot, 200 S. Main, in Evart.
The City of Evart will receive a $19,000 ceremonial grant check for a police vehicle.

Date: Thursday, Jan. 7th                       Time:  10:30 a.m.
Location: Friends Together office, 1013 State St., in Alpena.
Friends Together will receive a $10,000 ceremonial grant check for a medical transport to serve northeastern Michigan residents.

Date:  Thursday, Jan. 7th                      Time:  3 p.m.
Location:  South Branch Township Hall, 5245 M-18, in Roscommon.
South Branch Township will receive a $17,000 ceremonial grant check for an emergency command vehicle and a general purpose township vehicle.
