MAYVILLE BREAKS GROUND FOR WATER TREATMENT FACILITY

EAST LANSING, Aug. 7, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $1,712,000 loan check to Village of Mayville President Clare Fryers at the groundbreaking for the new water treatment facility.

“USDA Rural Development is proud to help improve water quality for area residents,” DeRossett said.  “This is an investment in public health.”

The loan will pay for a water treatment facility that will remove naturally occurring arsenic from area drinking water, rehabilitate the local water tower and refinance the existing water bond.  More than 330 homes and business will benefit.

USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
