of Agriculture Rural Development Contact: Alec Lloyd (517) 324-5204 PORT AUSTIN RECEIVES $16,000 FOR POLICE CAR LANSING, June 29, 2007 USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $16,000 grant check to Village of Port Austin President A. R. Lowe to help purchase new police vehicle. USDA Rural Development is proud to help improve public safety in Port Austin, DeRossett said. This money is an investment to improve the quality of life in rural Michigan. The grant was combined with $13,643 in local funds to purchase a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
