USDA Announces $2.6 Million for Reed City Water, Sewer Upgrades EAST LANSING, April 20, 2012 U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner today announced a ceremony to commemorate more than $2.6 million for water and sewer improvements at Reed City on Tuesday, April 24, at10 a.m. at City Hall, 227 E. Lincoln Ave. The agency provided a $511,000 water loan and a $2,186,000 sewer loan to support the project. The sewer loan was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. USDA Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009. USDA, through its Rural Development mission area, administers and manages housing, business and community infrastructure and facility programs through a national network of state and local offices. These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America. Rural Development has an existing portfolio of more than $165 billion in loans and loan guarantees.
