USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $850,000 FOR EARLY CHILHOOD CENTER IN MARQUETTE EAST LANSING, March 11, 2009 U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Specialist Jim Yoder today presented a $850,000 ceremonial check to the Alger Marquette Community Action Board for a new early childhood education center in Marquette. This is an investment in a better future for children in the Marquette area, said Yoder. The money consists of an $800,000 loan and a $50,000 grant to construct and equip a new early childhood education center in Marquette. The event is the first of two this week in the Upper Peninsula to commemorate more than $1 million in loans and grants for area communities. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
