USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $850,000 FOR EARLY CHILHOOD CENTER IN MARQUETTE

EAST LANSING, March 11, 2009 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Specialist Jim Yoder today presented a $850,000 ceremonial check to the Alger Marquette Community Action Board for a new early childhood education center in Marquette.

“This is an investment in a better future for children in the Marquette area,” said Yoder.

The money consists of an $800,000 loan and a $50,000 grant to construct and equip a new early childhood education center in Marquette.  The event is the first of two this week in the Upper Peninsula to commemorate more than $1 million in loans and grants for area communities.
