of Agriculture Rural Development USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT TO PRESENT $6.5 MILLION TO U.P. COMMUNITIES
EAST LANSING, Aug. 11, 2008 U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will host a series of ceremonies this week to commemorate $6,588,650 in loans and grants for communities across the Upper Peninsula. The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. The list below indicates the date, time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation. Date: Tuesday, Aug. 19th Time: 10 a.m. EDT Location: Gogebic Range Water Authority Anvil Location, N10338 Mill St., in Ramsay. The Gogebic Water Range Authority will receive $2,452,000 for improvements to the water system.
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 19th Time: 11:15 a.m. EDT Location: Ironwood Memorial Building Auditorium, 213 S. Marquette St. in Ironwood. The City of Ironwood will receive a $12,000 grant for a new police patrol vehicle.
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 19th Time: 1:15 p.m. EDT Location: Gogebic County Courthouse, 200 N. Moore St., in Bessemer. Gogebic County will receive $30,000 for a new police patrol vehicle and equipment.
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 19th Time: 4:30 p.m. EDT Location: Adams Township Hall, 17104 First St., in South Range. Adams Township will receive $2,445,000 for sewer system improvements.
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 20th Time: Noon EDT Location: Germfask Township Hall, 8093 Pine St., in Germfask. Germfask Township will receive $1,570,000 for water system upgrades.
Date: Wednesday, Aug. 20th Time: 2:30 p.m. EDT Location: Zellars Village Inn, 7552 M-123, in Newberry. Luce County will receive $12,000 for a new animal control vehicle.
Date: Thursday, Aug. 21st Time: 10:30 a.m. EDT Location: Bois Blanc Township hall, 898 Huron Drive, in Point aux Pins. Bois Blanc Township will receive $67,650 to remodel the township offices. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
