of Agriculture Rural Development Contact: Alec Lloyd (517) 324-5204 BEULAH RECEIVES $729,000 FOR SEWER UPGRADE EAST LANSING, Oct. 12, 2007 USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $729,000 ceremonial check for a sewer upgrade for the Village of Beulah. This is an investment in clean ground water and economic growth, said DeRossett. It is an excellent example of how USDA Rural Development is helping rural Michigan communities. The money consists of a $469,000 loan and a $260,000 grant and will be used to replace 3,800 feet of gravity sewer and manhole covers. The project will serve 370 rural customers. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
