of Agriculture • Rural Development Contact: Alec Lloyd (517) 324-5204 USDA ANNOUNCES NORTHERN MICHIGAN BROADBAND SUMMIT EAST LANSING, Aug. 27, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today announced that USDA and Congressmen Bart Stupak will host the Northern Michigan Broadband Summit on October 1, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Grayling Ramada Inn, 2650 S. I-75 Business Loop in Grayling. The conference is for businesses, local governments, economic developers, educators, library, health care and emergency service and others who wish to learn and collaborate on designing, implementing and funding broadband technology throughout Michigan communities. Additional topics include health care, economic development, community infrastructure needs and design, and education as it relates to broadband. The conference is sponsored by the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, Northeast Michigan Council of Governments, Northern Economic Network, Northern Lakes Economic Alliance and Crawford County Economic Development Partnership.
