of Agriculture • Rural Development Contact: Alec Lloyd (517) 324-5204 USDA ANNOUNCES $600,000 FOR CHIPPEWA COUNTY LANSING, June 14, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will present two ceremonial checks totaling $600,000 in grants and loans in Chippewa County on Tuesday, June 19. He will present a $300,000 grant check to Bay Mills Community College at 11 a.m. at the President’s Office, Bay Mills Community College Administration Building, 12214 W. Lakeshore Dr. in Brimley and a $300,000 loan check to Trout Lake Township at the township hall, 32686 West H-40, at 3 p.m. The money will be used for improvements on the Bay Mills college campus and to construct a new township hall for Trout Lake. Both events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
