CRAWFORD COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER RECEIVES $400,000 FROM USDA

EAST LANSING, July 21, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $400,000 ceremonial loan check to AuSable Valley Animal Shelter at the open house for the Grayling facility.

“The amount of local support for this project has been amazing,” DeRossett said.  “Crawford County now has a top-notch shelter and I am pleased we could help them achieve their goal.”

The 3,480-square-foot facility features special areas for cats and dogs, a grooming room and two isolation rooms for sick animals.   Many of the items were donated by local residents.
