USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $4 MILLION FOR U.P. COMMUNITIES

EAST LANSING, Dec. 6, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will host a series of ceremonies commemorating $4,232,200 in grants and loans for communities across the Upper Peninsula. 

The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. 

The list below indicates the date, time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation. 

Date: Dec. 11th                       Time:  11 a.m. EST
Location: Emerald Elementary School, 628 Oak Street, in Manistique
Manistique Area Schools will receive a $95,200 ceremonial grant check for two preschool playgrounds at Emerald Elementary School.

Date: Dec. 11th                       Time:  1 p.m. EST
Location: Tri-Star EMS Ambulance, 9661 Co. Rd. 497, GG Road, in Rapid River.
Tri-Star EMS Ambulance will receive a $100,000 ceremonial grant and loan check for a new ambulance.

Date:  Dec. 11th                      Time:  3:30 p.m. EST
Location:  Bark River Township Hall, 5005 D Road, in Bark River.
The Township of Bark River will receive a $3,597,000 ceremonial grant and loan check for a new sewage collection system.

Date:  Dec. 12th                      Time:  10 a.m. EST
Location:  Calumet Township Hall, 25880 Red Jacket Road, in Calumet.
The Township of Calumet will receive a $440,000 ceremonial loan check for storm sewer upgrades.
