of Agriculture • Rural Development USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT MARKS EARTH DAY WITH CEREMONIES IN BUENA VISTA AND PINCONNING TOWNSHIPS EAST LANSING, April 15, 2008 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will commemorate Earth Day by presenting more than $11.5 million in grants and loans for water and sewer improvements to two Bay and Saginaw area communities on Tuesday April 22. At 10 a.m., he will present a $9 million ceremonial loan check to Buena Vista Charter Township at the township hall, 1160 South Outer Drive in Saginaw. At noon, he will present a $2,525,000 ceremonial loan and grant check to Pinconning Township at the township hall, 1751 E. Cody Estey Road, in Pinconning. The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
