USDA FUNDS STUDY FOR IDLEWILD HOTEL

EAST LANSING, June 14, 2007 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $10,000 ceremonial grant check to FiveCAP Inc. to conduct a feasibility study on a new hotel for the area.

“Idlewild has tremendous cultural and historical significance,” said DeRossett.  “We want to keep that knowledge alive and help create new economic opportunities in Lake County.”

The money was made available through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant program, which finances and facilitates the development of small and emerging private business enterprises.  RBEGS are available to public bodies, nonprofit corporations and federally recognized Indian tribal groups.

USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
