of Agriculture • Rural Development GRAYLING RECEIVES $60,000 FOR EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT EAST LANSING, Jan. 28, 2008 – USDA Rural Development Traverse City Area Office Director Shelly Fuller today presented a ceremonial $60,000 check for fire and police equipment to the City of Grayling at Grayling City Hall. The money consists of a $30,000 grant and $30,000 loan and will be used to purchase a police vehicle, personal protective firefighting gear, a mobile breathing air center, new 5-inch fire hose, and a computer. Approximately 1,952 rural residents will benefit. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
