of Agriculture Rural Development Contact: Alec Lloyd (517) 324-5204 MANCELONA AREA WATER AND SEWER PROJECT RECEIVES NEARLY $2 MILLION EAST LANSING, Sept. 28, 2007 USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a ceremonial check for $1,986,000 in grants and loans to the Mancelona Area Water and Sewer Authority. This is an investment in clean water and future economic growth, said DeRossett. I am proud USDA Rural Development could help move this project forward. The money consists of a $700,000 loan and a $1,286,000 grant to pay for 13,000 feet of 8-inch gravity collection sewer, a pump station, and extended an aeration package sewer treatment plant to serve 63 rural customers. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
