MISSAUKEE CONSERVATION DISTRICT RECEIVES $75,245 FROM USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT

 EAST LANSING, Jan. 14, 2009 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett today presented a $75,245 ceremonial grant check to the Missaukee Conservation District to provide technical assistance on a solid waste management.

“Many rural communities face challenges in managing solid waste disposal,” said DeRossett.  “This grant will help the Missaukee Conservation District explore innovative solutions that are both cost-effective and protect the environment.”

USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
