USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES GRANTS FOR THE MANOR, VILLAGE OF COLON EAST LANSING, Sept. 22, 2008 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will host two ceremonies on Monday, Sept. 29 commemorating more than $60,000 in grants for the Village of Colon and The Manor in Jonesville. DeRossett will present a ceremonial $10,000 check for a new police vehicle to the Village of Colon at 10 a.m. at the village hall, 110 N. Blackstone Ave., in Colon. At 11:30 a.m. he will present a $50,000 grant check to The Manor, a residential treatment and special education school located at 115 East Street, in Jonesville. The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
