USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $875,000 FOR THUMB COMMUNITIES

 EAST LANSING, Oct. 26, 2009 – USDA Rural Development Director for Michigan James Turner will host a series of ceremonies commemorating $875,000 in grants and loans for Thumb area communities. 

The events take place on Monday, Nov. 2nd, are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. 

The list below indicates the time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation. 

Time:  9 a.m.   Location: Tuscola County Building Annex, Commissioner’s Room, 207 E. Grant St., in Caro.

The Village of Cass City will receive a $5,000 Rural Business Enterprise Grant, the Thumb Area Partnership will receive a $40,000 RBEG, the Tuscola County E.D.C. will receive a $20,000 RBEG and the Thumb Area Tourism Council will receive a $20,000 RBEG.

Time:  11:15 a.m.  Location: Huron County Building, Commissioner’s Room, 250 E. Huron Ave., in Bad Axe.

The Huron County E.D.C. will receive a $40,000 RBEG.

Time:  1:30 p.m.  Location:  Harbor Beach Area District Library, 105 N. Huron Ave., in Harbor Beach.

The Harbor Beach Area District Library will receive a $750,000 loan for renovation and expansion.
