ATTENTION MFH OWNERS RECEIVING RENTAL ASSISTANCE Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) Number Required The DUNS number is a unique nine-digit identification number provided by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). The DUNS number is a proprietary means of identifying entities on a location-specific basis. Effective October 1, 2003, regulations mandated that a DUNS number be provided on all federal grant applications and for all federal grant recipients. Recently, USDA Rural Development issued an opinion that Rental Assistance is considered a form of federal grant. Therefore, all MFH borrowers with a Rental Assistance (RA) Agreement must obtain a DUNS number and report it to the Agency. Individual borrowers are exempt from this requirement. Assignment of a DUNS number is absolutely FREE for all entities required to register with the federal government by a regulatory agency. This includes applicants and recipients of federal grants. D&B offers two options for obtaining a DUNS number. You may register on-line at https://eupdate.dnb.com/requestoptions/government/ccrreg/. Or you may register by phone at 866-705-5711. You will need to provide the following information to obtain a DUNS number.
Upon receipt of your DUNS number, please report the borrower name, project name, and associated DUNS number to the Agency by contacting Gloria Nava, MFH Technician, at 651-602-7822 or gloria.nava@mn.usda.gov. |
