Rural Development staff visited Ruth's House of Faribault to donate the
proceeds raised from a silent auction to the shelter. The money was
raised at Rural Development's state meeting in the fall.

LAKE VERMILLION, MARCH 18 --
USDA Rural Development officially handed over the keys to a new garbage
truck that will serve the Red Lake American Indian Community. The truck
was financed with a grant from Rural Development's Community Facilities
program. Rural Development officials also met with tribe leaders after
the ceremony to discuss future development in the community.

LITTLE FALLS, Dec. 18 -- The
Mid-State Education District in Little Falls was awarded a $219,675
distance learning grant. State Director Steve Wenzel visited Mid-State
to officially award the grant and watch a demonstration of the
interactive television services that was upgraded with the grant.

SPICER, Nov. 5 --
Glacial Ridge Winery in Spicer is now officially open for business. The
new winery makes wines out of apples and rhubarb and recently was
awarded a value-added producer grant from USDA Rural Development. the
locally-owned and operated company will use the grant to market its

KIMBALL,
Nov. 5 -- USDA Rural Development officials toured Schiefelbein
Farms, a 4,000 acre family-owned and operated cattle farm, in central
Minnesota. The farm was recently awarded a value-added producer grant to
help identify high quality branded beef cattle.

SUNBURG, Oct. 11 -- The city of
Sunburg will soon have a new ambulance thanks to a $105,000 loan/grant
package from USDA Rural Development. Rural Development Assistant to the
State Director Doug Altrichter visited Sunburg to award the city its
"big check" and discuss the importance or rural emergency preparedness.

BROWNS VALLEY, Oct. 11 -- The
city of Browns Valley was struck by a flood earlier this spring. Because
of the damages, the city was unable to purchase an early storm warning
system on its own. Thanks to Rural Development's Community Facilities
program, the city was able to buy the system.

SPICER, Minn., Oct. 10 -- A
$135,000 loan from USDA Rural Development will help the city of Spicer
expand and updates its library. Once expansion is finished, there will
be more room for computers, desk space and for the check out desk. USDA
Rural Development is able to finance library updates, hospital
expansions, day-care centers, fire halls, ambulances, etc. through its
community facilities program.

city of Fairfax celebrated the arrival of a new defibrillator machine
today. The new machine will increase the effectiveness of the city's
