Picture of Town of Superior new fire hydrant

USDA's Rural Development Community Programs provided Superior with a $1,231,400 loan to purchase three wells and pumphouses with disinfection, one spring, a distribution system, and two water storage tanks.  Community Programs also gave a loan/grant package ($75,500 / $475,000) for Superior to replace and add hydrants and valves to improve fire flows.  It installed water meters to find leaks and spread the cost of the operation equitably.  The Town also replaced leaky service lines and inoperable curb boxes (service line isolation valves).  Surface restoration to sidewalks and streets was included in these improvements.  The Town purchased an emergency generator to operate the wells in the event of power outages, and installed a telemetry system to control pump run times depending on storage tank levels.
