HOUSING PRESERVATION GRANTS - SECTION 533


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Single family housing and apartment rehabilitation grant assistance to non-profit agencies in North Carolina.

TYPE OF ASSISTANCE: Pass through money to qualified very low and low-income recipients.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Non-profit agencies in North Carolina doing business in the area of grant rehabilitation to qualified very low and low-income people.

FUND AVAILABILITY AND MAXIMUM AMOUNTS: Funding is based on an annual appropriation. No more than 50% of the State's allocation may be obligated to a single entity. Information on funding is published annually in a Notification of Fund Availability (NOFA). Applications can be filed only in the timeframe contained in the NOFA.

INTEREST RATE: None.

TERMS AND COLLATERAL: One to two year grant term conducted by approved agency.

FEES: None.

CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: Past experience preferred in conducting successful rehabilitation program in areas where business is conducted.

CONTACT: Preapplications are made at Rural Development offices. The preapplication process deadline is published in the FEDERAL REGISTER each year.
