group efforts that promote value-added agriculture.

   

The Purpose Of The Rural Cooperative Development Grant (RCDG) Program Is...To establish and operate centers for rural technology or cooperative development to promote:  the development of the economic condition of rural areas through technological innovation, cooperative development, and adaptation of existing technology; the commercialization of new services and products that can be produced or provided in rural areas; new processes that can be utilized in the production of products in rural areas; and new enterprises or cooperatives that can add value to on-farm production through processing or marketing.

NOTE:  This grant differs from the Valued-Added Producer Grants available to for-profit businesses looking at value-added projects.

Eligible Applicants Include...Institutes of higher education, public bodies and non-profit corporations.

Terms And Conditions...

 Grant funds may be used to pay for up to 75 percent of the costs associated with carrying out relevant projects.
   

Funding for this program is limited.  Funds are targeted to reach those in greatest need.

   

Competitive funds available yearly with selection made at the national level.

   

Eligible areas include areas outside of the urbanized edge of cities with a population of more than 50,000.
