The Purpose
Of The Rural Cooperative Development Grant (RCDG) Program Is...To establish and
operate centers for rural technology or cooperative development to
promote: the development of the economic
condition of rural areas through technological innovation, cooperative
development, and adaptation of existing technology; the commercialization
of new services and
products that can be produced or provided in rural areas; new processes
that can be utilized in the production of
products in rural areas; and new enterprises or
cooperatives that can add value to on-farm
production through processing or marketing.
NOTE: This
grant differs from the Valued-Added Producer Grants available to for-profit
businesses looking at value-added projects.

Eligible
Applicants Include...Institutes of higher education, public bodies and
non-profit corporations.

Grant funds may be used to
pay for up to 75 percent of the costs
associated with carrying out relevant projects. |

Funding for this program is limited. Funds are targeted to reach those in greatest need.

Competitive
funds available yearly with selection made at the national level.
|
| |
|
 |
Eligible
areas include areas outside of the urbanized edge of cities with a population of more than 50,000.
