Home Improvement and Repair

Purpose: What is the Program's Goal?  To enable very low-income rural homeowners to remove health and safety hazards in their homes and to make homes accessible for people with disabilities.

504 Loans -- For very low-income homeowners. Interest rate is 1%, maximum term is 20 years, and maximum loan amount is $20,000.

504 Grants -- For very low-income homeowners who are age 62 and above. Lifetime maximum grant amount is $7,500.

Housing Preservation Grants -- Made to a non-profit organizations or units of local government, which then perform repair and rehabilitation on the homes of eligible low-income individuals and families.
