Sarah AdlerWelcome from Nevada USDA Rural Development State Director Sarah Adler

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Adler attended Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science in 1980. Adler became the Director of the Rural Office of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development in 1986, serving in that position until June of 1993 when she was nominated by U.S. Senator Harry Reid and appointed by President Bill Clinton and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy to the position of State Director of the then Farmers Home Administration.

During the 1990’s, Adler championed the reinvention of Farmers Home into USDA Rural Development, bringing millions of dollars of federal funding, as well as expertise, to housing, infrastructure, and business projects throughout rural Nevada. On August 17, 2009, again nominated by Senator Harry Reid, Adler rejoined USDA Rural Development as State Director.
