USDA Rural Development State Director Patrick H. Brennan joined State Sen. Dave Valesky (center), Assemblyman Bill Magee (right) and several local officials on January 19 for the grand opening of the Sullivan Free Library in Chittenango. USDA Rural Development provided $1.725 million in loans and grants over the last two years for the new library. Located in the former State Bank of Chittenango/Oneida Savings building on the Village’s main street, the recently-completed contains several unique features, including wall murals of scenes from the Wizard of Oz and a children’s playroom complete with a “munchkin” entry for pre-schoolers. The Oz-theme is in honor of the book’s author, Frank Baum, who was a Chittenango native. |
