Executive Summary

Applicants for the VAPG program must submit an Executive Summary with their applications. The Executive Summary is limited to one page and should briefly describe the Project, including goals, tasks to be completed and other relevant information that provides a general overview of the project. You must also state whether the application is for a planning or working capital grant and the amount requested.

Recommendations for developing the Executive Summary:

  • Make sure you title the page, “Executive Summary.”

  • Provide context for your project by explaining the market conditions that give your project potential.

  • Describe the goals of your project (e.g. to market flowerpots to chain grocery stores in the mid-west US or to increase sales by 10%).

  • Identify the tasks you will complete as part of the project (e.g. hire a marketing coordinator or update your website).

  • Indicate which type of grant you are applying for – planning or working capital.

  • State the grant amount that you’re requesting and make sure it is consistent with what you have submitted on the forms and in your work plan/budget.
