Value-Added Producer Grant
Application Requirements
Performance Evaluation Criteria

Applicants applying for Planning Grants must suggest at least one criterion by which their performance under a grant could be evaluated. Applicants applying for Working Capital Grants must identify the projected increase in customer base, revenue accruing to Independent Producers, and number of jobs attributed to the Project. Working capital projects with significant energy components must also identify the projected increase in capacity (e.g. gallons of ethanol produced annually, megawatt hours produced annually) attributed to the Project. Please note that these criteria are different from the Proposal Evaluation Criteria and are a separate requirement.

Recommendations for developing Performance Evaluation Criteria:
  • If you are applying for a planning grant, try to choose one or two criteria that will effectively measure the outcome of your project. For example, will your project improve the quality of life in your area? If yes, how can you measure that improvement?
  • If you are applying for a working capital grant, make sure you put in a number, even if it is zero, for increase in customer base, revenue accruing to Independent Producers, and the number of jobs.
  • If you are applying for a working capital grant and your project involves renewable energy, make sure you project the increase in energy capacity that will result from your project.
