Value-Added Producer Grant
Application Requirements
SF-424A

Applicants for the VAPG program must submit a completed SF-424A with their applications.

Recommendations for filling out the form:

The SF-424A is a general form approved for most Federal grant programs. Therefore, it includes items that are not necessary for every program. For the VAPG program, we recommend that you complete only sections A-D.

  • For Section A, fill in VAPG on line 1, column a. Next, fill in 10-352 on line 1, column b. Third, fill in the grant amount requested on line 1, column e (double check that this number matches your SF-424, line 15a and the amount in your work plan/budget). Fourth, fill in the total matching funds that will be contributed by all sources on line 1, column f (make sure this amount matches what you submitted on the SF-424, lines 15b-e and the amount in your work plan/budget). Finally, if you are not using an electronic fillable form that automatically calculates totals for column g and line 5, fill in those amounts.

  • For Section B, fill in VAPG at the top of column 1. List the amounts (grant and matching funds) for each budget category listed on lines 6a-j. Make sure the total amount is listed on line 6k. Do not fill in any additional columns. For working capital applicants, list your expected program income on line 7, column 1.

  • For Section C, fill in VAPG on line 8, column a. Next, provide the amount of matching funds contributed by the applicant, if any, on line 8, column b. Third, provide the amount of matching funds contributed by a state-level agency or grant, if any, on line 8, column c. Fourth, provide the amount of matching funds contributed by local-level agencies or grants or other third-parties. Finally, provide totals in column d and line 12 if they are not automatically calculated.

  • For Section D, fill in your expected cash needs for grant funds for each quarter of your grant period (note that your grant period cannot be longer than four quarters) on line 13. Provide the total amount if it is not automatically provided on line 13, under the Total for 1st Year column. Next, fill in your expected cash needs for matching funds for each quarter of your grant period on line 14. Provide the total amount if it is not automatically provided on line 14, under the Total for 1st Year column. Also, make sure you demonstrate that you will expend your matching funds at the same or greater rate as grant funds.
