VAPG Eligibility Assessment (VAPG)
The Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) Program awards grants to agricultural producers, businesses owned by a majority of agricultural producers, and organizations representing agricultural producers for business planning or working capital expenses associated with marketing a value-added agricultural product. Agricultural producers include farmers, ranchers, loggers, agricultural harvesters and fishermen that engage in the production or harvesting of an agricultural commodity.
If you are interested in applying for a VAPG, one of the first steps you should take is to complete our preliminary eligibility assessment. By answering the eligibility questions, you will be able to get an idea of whether or not your project is eligible for a grant. However, please keep in mind that this assessment is not a final, official eligibility determination by the Agency. It is meant to provide guidance only. If you have any questions about your eligibility, you should contact your State Office.
There are several steps to determining eligibility for the program. First, you must be an eligible applicant. Second, the product to be marketed must meet the definition of value-added. Third, your project expenses must be for business planning activities or for working capital expenses. Finally, there are several other miscellaneous eligibility considerations you must meet.
