Buffalo Trace Champion Community
The Buffalo Trace Champion Community has progressed over the past 12 months to accomplish several aspects within its established benchmarks. Areas of the participating counties within Lewis, Fleming, Mason and Robertson have received emphasis through funding of agriculture projects as well as developing partnerships within the region. Other major projects that were completed for the Champion Community included the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce in Lewis County, where all but one census tract is included in the Champion Community. Also, many of the farmers market programs have grown with emphasis in the local area. Infrastructure improvements are always an emphasis that can attract new business, industry or improve the quality of life. The Champion Community has also experienced the advancement of waterline extension projects within the designated boundaries of the CC.
