Empowerment Alliance of SW Florida
The Empowerment Alliance of Southwest Florida was designated as a Round II Rural Enterprise Community in January, 1999. Since that time we have leveraged approximately $48 million dollars of other federal, state and private money. For every dollar of federal money received from the Enterprise Community designation we have been able to leverage $100.
In 1998, Governor Jeb Bush and the State Legislature created the Florida Empowerment Program. This program provided matching state dollars in the amount of $225,000 for Year 1 and Year 3 of the 10-year designation as a Round II Federal Enterprise Community. State of Florida 1. We have completed 70% of our 26 benchmarks for the first two years and are in the process of identifying through strategic planning our goals for the next two to five years. Strategic Plan for the Empowerment Alliance Enterprise Community identifies the following Goals, Objectives and Strategies for implementation. The Strategic Plan was developed in 1998 with broad community input. The Alliance and its Partners have accomplished the following strategies over the last two years.
