FUTURO Empowerment Zone (also a Round II EC)
As an Enterprise Community, FUTURO was able to support community development by providing funding and technical assistance to local projects that supported the FUTURO EC Strategic Plan. Local Advisory Committee’s worked hard to fund the projects that would benefit their communities the most and benefit those most in need. LAC funded projects include: El Progress Memorial Library’s West Main Project (facility to house library, archives, and museum for Uvalde & Southwest Texas including Dimmit & Zavala Counties), Uvalde EMS (EMT training & equipment), Uvalde & Zavala County FAST (Families and Schools Together) Program, Maverick County Development Corporation RBEG Grant –Eagle Pass Industrial Park Infrastructure & Revolving Loan Fund Project, and the Dimmit County Public Library (multi-purpose addition to the library for classroom and meeting space).
