Jackson County Enterprise Community
Throughout 2003, the Jackson County Development Council, Inc. (JCDC) successfully continued to achieve the economic and community development goals of its Strategic Plan while making marked progress in carrying out benchmark tasking requirements. Community partnership and business enterprise efforts resulted in the submission of 75 funding applications, which leveraged receipt of $86,957,458 in federal, state, local, and private funds to support the County, the five incorporated cities, and several private non-profit organizations within the Federal Rural Enterprise Community.
During the year, the JCDC responded to 783 business assistance requests and inquiries which contributed to the creation of 595 new jobs and 6 new businesses, while sustaining (saving) 103 other jobs.
