Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance
We are pleased to share with you the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. Annual Report for 2003. This report reflects the continuation of a new time and era for the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc as we venture further in advancing and answering the growing needs of the Mid-Delta Region for decades to come. The Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. continues its commitment to achieve the “original spirit of its strategic plan” under the Empowerment Zone Program.
The accomplishments and failures of the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. have strengthen its commitment to the communities which it serves through its community development, economic development, housing development and social development initiatives. The Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone is comprised of the six (6) counties of Bolivar, Holmes, Humphreys, Leflore, Sunflower, and Washington and the seventeen (17) municipalities of Beulah, Durant, Greenville (part), Gunnison, Indianola (Industrial Park), Isola, Itta Bena, Morgan City, Merigold, Metcalfe, Mound Bayou, Pace, Rosedale, Sunflower, West and Winstonville.
Under my leadership over the past 12 months, I have implemented several transformation which I feel have been and are extremely important to the past, present and future of the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. Instead of reacting to problems, we are creating challenges by providing solutions in advance. We are now proactive.
In the next section of this report, the Most Significant Accomplishments, the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc is glad to report and provide snapshots of the fruitfulness of its programs in ’03.
The Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. embodies the following four key principles: economic opportunity, sustainable community development, community-based partnerships, and strategic vision for change. And in keeping our eyes on the prize of the aforementioned embodied four key principles, the Mid-Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Inc. will assure future generations of Mid-Deltans to live out the true and uncompromising spirit of empowerment.
