2005 Annual Report Executive Summary

City of Bowling Green Enterprise Community

The Board completed the award of the first round of mini-grants. Funds that were not utilized to support projects planned during the prior year were reprogrammed to support mini-grants. Ten grants were awarded for a total of $47,911 covering seven different benchmarks. Interested agencies were invited to submit a Letter of Intent to apply for this round of funding. Three grant applications were selected for funding totaling $38,838.

The Girl’s Inc Program was introduced and served as a vehicle to instruct girls with motor skill development and healthy eating. The program targeted girls ages 5-8 with physical activity and numerous lessons and activities designed to promote healthy eating habits.

A Pilot Transit Transportation Program was developed with the City of Bowling Green. Travelers will be provided with a Saturday shopping shuttle. Currently the public transit system only runs Monday through Friday. This pilot project will help determine the need for a permanent Saturday route. The EC continued its partnership with the Housing & Community Development Department to assist in the EC area wide cleanup effort.
