
2006 Annual Report Executive Summary
Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes Enterprise Community
The year 2006 brought challenges and progress for the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and the Assiniboine & Sioux Tribal Enterprise Community (ASTEC). Key focus by the ASTEC was placed on initiatives that supported:
BM#17-Work Force Development,
BM#16- Business retention and expansion,
BM#6- Bio-Fuel Development,
BM#17-Cultural and Tourism activities and the promotion of Home Ownership by community members.
These efforts were leveraged by our strong partnerships with the Fort Peck Tribes, Fort Peck Community College, State Economic Development leaders, community outreach and our granting agencies.
Laying out a plan and then working with the state, tribes and local industries to develop the plan was accomplished through the assessment and execution of using the benchmarked activities for business and industry (BM# 16), as follows;
Objective 1. Benchmark #16 – During the calendar year from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 the EC supported the start-up and expansion of Business & Industries on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. The Enterprise Community assisted the Tribal Industries in their endeavors to leverage tribal, state, federal and commercial resources. The basic areas of activities involve:
Provide opportunities for key decision makers (Industry Management, Economic Development Leaders and Tribal Executive Board Members) to secure contracting, procurement and relationship building efforts with commercial and government decision makers.
