Tri-County Indian Nations Enterprise Community
2006 has been a very productive year for Tri-County. Amy Childers Elliott was named the Executive Director, and has focused the past year on accountability, responsibility, and sustainability. Tri-County has been able to accomplish much through positive, collaborative involvement throughout the three county Enterprise Community.
Tri-County’s mission is to guide, initiate, implement, and fund strategies and programs that promote opportunities for economic and self improvement, ensure adequate and affordable housing, ensure safe water and sewage systems, and make available training assistance designed to improve the self-sufficiency for residents.
Tri-County’s goals include:
Main highlights and accomplishments during the past year include 1) Start up of Tri-County Self-Help Housing Program, 2) Co-sponsor of a Group Workcamp in Pontotoc County, 3) Creation of the Stonewall Bank Building Revitalization Committee, 5) Rural Business Enterprise Grants awarded in both Johnston and Coal Counties, 6) Community Facility Grants awarded for 2-1-1- assistance and purchase of police vehicles in Coalgate and Tupelo, 7) Sponsorship for the Gear-Up Educational Program, and continued working with diverse groups throughout the EC.
