2008 Annual Report Executive Summary

Westside Tule Enterprise Community

In 2008, Westside Tule Enterprise Community experienced another very successful year as an Enterprise Community. The Board of Directors has maintained stable membership from all participating communities as well as the Executive Director and Administrative Assistant remained consistent throughout the year allowing for the implementation of benchmarks to occur effectively. In addition, two (2) AmeriCorps VISTA members served as community-based organization staff in Coalinga and Five Points through mid-year and then were transitioned over to organization positions in order to have continuity in each of these organizations, providing support to ongoing projects and overall assistance with the coordination and implementation of benchmark tasks. Westside Tule Enterprise Community has primarily focuses on adult education, youth leadership and development activities, job skills training projects, facility rehabilitation/construction efforts, and business beautification implementation in 2008. In addition, the Westside Tule Enterprise Community continues to work effectively with its partners in local government, institutions of higher education, K-12 school districts, county agencies, community service providers, and local businesses.

The Westside Tule Enterprise Community Board of Directors, Executive Director, Administrative Assistant, community-based organizations, and partners all agree that the progress made in 2008 has been the most successful since WTEC’s inception and looks forward to an even more productive year in 2009 as we fully implement existing projects and seek out additional resources and funding for the years ahead. The partnerships developed and the leadership in existence right now offers Westside Tule Enterprise Community the opportunity to continue its current accelerated momentum as the organization enters into 2009.
