1999 Annual Report Executive Summary*
Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) EC
The following accomplishments were made this year within the CSRA EC are as follows:
1. We have had good expansion in the employment status in our community by adding 200 new jobs with 210 jobs to begin with in the next two to six months. These jobs are due to the new industries that have located in the area as well as the micro loan program of the EC.
2. Our rural telecommunications-networking project is nearing completion. This project will allow citizens from the tracts to go to the Human Development Centers to take college level courses.
3. We have established six new partnerships within the census tracts.
4. We have had 15 persons from the census tracts to graduate from the Academy for Economic Development class held by the Dept. of Community Affairs (DCA)
5. We have completed the final two Human Development Centers.
6. We have established a regional Land Trust to promote affordable housing. We were successful at securing funds to rehab housing for the elderly.
These are some of the successes that we enjoyed this year. In this new millennium we will strive to have far greater accomplishments and will continue to build and enhance partnerships to further the initiative of the CSRA EC.
