How to Use This Training Module

Step Action
1 (Optional) Review presentation and training fundamentals. The Selected Presentation, Training and Adult Education Resources List links you to a selection of useful materials for delivering presentations like this. Even experienced presenters will gain from a review of the fundamentals.
2 Determine if the training content is suitable to your EZ/EC/CC/REAP Board training needs. Note: materials may be used in part, in their entirety or omitted to meet your needs.  The training content is fairly comprehensive, so it may serve you to focus on fewer topics specifically needed by your audience.  Review the following in Facilitators Resource Folder:

a.) Facilitator's Resource & Documents List
b.) Mini-Board Training (View these slides in the Notes format to see facilitator instructions)
c.) Sample Mini-Training Session Overview

3

Make minimal revisions to the materials for your EZ/EC/CC/REAP Board training.   Even if the content and learning objectives for your training match the “Time to Renew” module, some editing will be required in the following:

a.) (Handout) Sample Pre-training Survey -- Edit, and send this to Board participants several weeks ahead of the training. Compile the results early to help design the training, and report back to participants in slides #53-55.
b.) (Powerpoint) Mini-Board Training, slides #68-69 External Assessment
c.) (Handout) Sample Community Quiz-- Edit for your community and share the results in slide #45.
d.) A custom Board Training Binder may be distributed. Suggested generic and sample documents (requiring custom edits) are listed under the Sample Facilitator Training Outline.

4 Further customize the training materials.  Depending on your training needs, any of the training materials may be revised, including the PowerPoint presentation, handouts, and activities. To add, delete or change slides or sample documents simply open the document or Powerpoint and SAVE AS your own document.
5 Practice your presentation.  Do a dry-run or two to determine and enhance:

a.) Timing. The Sample Facilitator Training Outline was designed to lay-out your schedule.
b.) Material needs. Make sure you have all the technology, props, documents and hand-outs for each activity.
c.) Confidence. Practice does help.

6 Produce materials.  After your final edits are made, print out and reproduce the copies you need for participants.
