Community Overview:
Covington Tennessee, the county seat of Tipton County, is located 40 miles north of the Memphis/Shelby County metropolitan area. Considered one of the states fastest growing counties, Tipton County has been a catalyst for community pride, even though it is a low-income area (the median household income in the 2000 census was $34,881). Children & Family Services is located in the census tract 407, which has the highest poverty rate. There are 11 county schools in Tipton County and 2 city schools with a total of 14, 183 students.

At the present time Children & Family Services receives private funding from various individuals, businesses, state government, federal government and United Way designations. In some instances, Children & Family Services is required to match various grants either through in-kind or monetary contribution. In addition, Children & Family Services generates other funding through internal fundraising events, such as gymnasium rentals, office space rental and banquets.
