Developing the Section 9006 Program

The 2002 Farm Bill, formally known as the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, became Public Law 107-171 on May 13, 2002. In both 2003 and 2004, USDA implemented the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program through Notices of Funds Availability (NOFA.) In 2005, the USDA published a third NOFA. The 2005 NOFA announced the 2005 grant program and that the USDA set aside funds for a guaranteed loan program in 2005. The 2005 guaranteed program was implemented pursuant to the final rule published on July 18, 2005. Even after the publication of the final rule the 2005 NOFA remained the implementing document for the grant program in 2005.

With the publication of the final rule USDA will make announcements in the Federal Registar regarding the availability of funding availablity and application deadlines. As with many government programs funding availabilty is determined each year. Please stay tuned to this site and the Federal Registar for these announcements.
