VAPG program helping
fuel biofuel growth
SDA Rural Development’s Value-Added
Producer Grant (VAPG) program is helping to
fund producer-owned businesses all across the
nation, including biofuel projects. The table on
the following pages lists biofuel-related grants
issued the past two years.
VAPGs may be used for planning activities and for working
capital for marketing value-added agricultural products and
for farm-based renewable energy. Eligible applicants are
independent producers, farmer and rancher cooperatives,
agricultural producer groups and majority-controlled producer-
based business ventures. The 2006 funding decisions were
announced in September (after this publication went to press)
