Outline of Need: The community of Locke, California located in rural Sacramento County is the oldest still-occupied community in California that was built by Chinese immigrants. In 1990, the community was listed as a National Historic Landmark. The 80 residents of the community have a median household income of $12,999. The current wastewater treatment system was constructed in 1915. The system has been in violation of water quality standards since 1996. |
How Rural Development Helped:
This project involves the construction of a new low-pressure sanitary sewer system, which will connect to a regional county-operated facility.
