Earth Day 2004: City of Prinsburg, Minnesota
Sewer Grant and Loan

Grant:     $793,000
Loan:    $1,358,000

Total:    $2,151,000

Outline of Need:

The City of Prinsburg currently has a failing collection system, which is directly discharging the city's waste into a local ditch, without any treatment. MPCA has put the city on notice that they are in violation and will be assessed penalties, if a treatment system is not in operation by 2005.

How Rural Development Helped:

The proposed project is for replacement of the existing collection system, and the construction of a constructed wetland treatment system.

The Results:

These replacements, the new construction and other improvements will help the City of Prinsburg meet MPCA environmental requirements and will help benefit community residents.
