Outline of Need:

The Town of Cumberland Gap needed to upgrade its existing sewer collection and treatment system to meet environmental and service requirements.

How Rural Development Helped:

Rural Development provided the Town of Cumberland Gap with $1,080,600 in sewer loan and grant assistance.

Pictured, above:  Community Development Programs Deputy Administrator Luis Luna and Tennessee State Director Mary (Ruth) Tackett celebrated the 34th Anniversary of Earth Day by presenting a check to the Town of Cumberland Gap for $1,080,600 to upgrade the existing sewer collection and treatment system. Local High School students performed a skit protesting unsafe air and water, and local elementary students were awarded Rural Development t-shirts for best posters.
